Hey guys,

Unfortunatly not much of an update, the wife has decided that seeing as i have spent the equivilant of a house deposit that she wanted to do some spending too. So the backyard and house are currently being renovated.

Also I’ve landed a promotion and a fair bit of extra work with my 9-5 which now see’s me in adelaide on a regular basis. However work is about to commence again with the bike heading over to mr potato for a couple of coats of paint.

Aim is to have the bike rideable for the MAD ride.

The break will also let me save some more cash that is required for the final stretch of the build.

Billet Sump has arrived.

Thanks to Greg over at Boost By Smith who unselfishly has helped consolidate some of my orders from the US my RPM 2″ billet sump has arrived. The sump allows about 2″ more ground clearance over the factory unit which is a must for any lowered hayabusa.

It’s now off to get the exhaust done.

Ground Clearance and Cut fairings

Posted by TYSON in The Project

Ok, another shipment arrived. This contained the internal spacers to lift the front up.
Still no dice on fairing ground clearance. So i have a straight edge, a dremel and a set of fairings.. wish me luck

30mins later….

Well no broken windows this time.. Success, just have to tidy the cut up, but first cut was pretty good and true to what i wanted.

Shock,Swingarms and Triple Clamps

Posted by TYSON in The Project

May

Since the last one, we have painted the swingarm, the new shock arrived (Penske specced to suit the bike), The triple clamp and woodcraft clipons, the Boost Controller.

An order has just been placed for and Muzzys Billet Clutch Basket, 2 Inch Billet Sump for more ground clearance, two more guages (Nitrous Pressure and Oil Pressure), a oil catch can, low profile billet breather, braided clutch line and some spacers to lift the front end up. When i lowered it i was not planning on going for a new triple clamp which requires the forks to be slid up 2 inches.

We are currently in the middle of prepping the body work which involes cutting the fairings for the exhaust, filter and possibly more ground clearance.

Here’s some random snaps.

Bit of a Set back

Posted by TYSON in The Project

Unfortunatly another set back today after reading the ANDRA rule book, turns out i need one of these. basically it’s an electonic limiter that limits boost to 40PSI. I have no issues running it, tis just another cost that wasnt budgeted and the fact that it includes the BOV means i have to wait for it to get here to continue with the next step. It’s also one of those things that is completly wasted on this bike, because a) 40PSI will destroy the motor quicker than that valve can open the BOV, b) i already have an overboost limit set on the ECU.

On the plus side, the rest of the bike seems to comply with the Modified Bike class. (AA/MB)

More Progress

Mar

Well, sad to say my holidays are over. I didn’t achieve as much as i hoped to because i ran out of funds. All the little things are starting to add up.  Im now just waiting on some more overtime to grab a chain and to get enzed to plumb up the oil lines to the turbo and finally to find someone to fabricate/weld a charge tube to go from the turbo to the plenum. If anyone has access to a tig that can do ali and the skills to go with it let me know, shouldn’t be too much work.

While waiting for the above, the assembly process continued, it entails checking everything to ensure it’s torqued up, finding bolts, fabricating a new undertail to mount the electrics, rewiring the electrics to suit the new position of the ecu and msd. Slowly but surely i’m getting there.

The engine is now cranking, has oil pressure, and we have spark from the MSD (and what a nasty spark it is haha)

I will keep going through the week and if i find something that is worthy of an update i will be sure to post up. Until then, here’s some more pics.

PS, got a new camera today, Canon S5, still working out the right settings but so far i like it. :)
